The Medford operation seeks an experienced Estimator/Project Manager to bid, negotiate, and manage contracts for public and private heavy/civil construction, asphalt and concrete paving projects.
Project Manager duties include: accurate project revenue and cost financial forecasting; develop and maintain relationship with contract owners and agencies; establish and manage project budget and profitability targets; coordinate with construction managers, estimators, equipment managers, field superintendents, foremen to manage project resources, labor, schedule, equipment; establish a comprehensive plan for project start up and kick-off; foster communication with project team, agencies, inspectors and senior management; support company safety policies to ensure project is accomplished in safe manner, other duties as assigned.
Estimating duties include: review data or material and labor requirements, prepare itemized list and perform quantity take-offs; compute cost factors and prepare estimates for planning, organizing and scheduling work, preparing bids, selecting vendors and subcontractors; review and verify pricing package before contract; maintain communication with clients, vendors, subcontractors and individuals to formulate estimates and resolve issues; obtain bids from vendors and subcontractors; perform comprehensive "bid day" analysis; procure and distribute required documentation; manage active company project bid schedule; other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration, or related field or six (6) to eight (8) years of equivalent of education and work experience in heavy civil construction.
•Knowledge of heavy highway construction paving, underground, concrete and grading practices.
•Basic knowledge and understanding of union agreements and prevailing wage issues.
•Maintain the ability to work in high production environments.
•Demonstrate effective and accurate decision-making and leadership skills.
•Excellent supervisory communication and organizational skills.
•Ability to read, analyze, and interpret construction plans/specifications, general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, maintenance manuals, or governmental regulations.
•Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
•Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
•An intermediate understanding and use of MS Office Suite programs or equivalent, HCSS Heavy Bid/Job software, MS Outlook, basic data file management and organization, internet and web browser/search engines and a basic understanding of JD Edwards or equivalent accounting software.
