POSITION SUMMARY
Timber Products is looking for candidates interested in joining our leadership team at our Particleboard mill in Medford, OR.
As a Supervisor I/Lab Tech, you will learn and then assume the duties of a quality control lab technician, as well as front line leadership.
This position provides coverage for both shift Quality Assurance and front line supervision.
Progression leads to a Supervisor II position, after the candidate successfully completes all aspects of our training programs and demonstrates proficiency in leadership skills and process knowledge.
SHIFT: Day (7:00am - 3:00pm), Swing (3:00pm – 11:00pm) or Graveyard (11:00pm – 7:00am) - multiple positions available
Must be open to work any shift.
MAJOR TASKS
• Conduct panel testing; participate in research and development projects, thickness control, moisture content, panel density profile, and equipment calibrations.
• Identify and communicate process upsets.
• Work in conjunction with all supervisory personnel to learn all aspects of particleboard manufacturing process.
• Maintain quality control standards to maximize company profitability.
• Supervise production crews as assigned, once successfully trained and exhibits proficiency in leadership skills and process knowledge.
• Cover supervisor vacations and vacancies as necessary, and completes special projects as assigned.
• Follow and ensures all employees follow company safety program and safety standards.
• Consistently enforce all company policies and procedures.
Ensure accurate interpretation and application of the labor agreement.
SKILL REQUIREMENTS
• Two years of QA/supervisory experience in wood products or other manufacturing environments preferred, but not required.
• A BS Degree in Wood Sciences, BS or AS in manufacturing or related field is preferred, but not required.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
Must be a TEAM oriented player.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
• Leadership and motivational skills that allow candidates to achieve productivity, quality and safety goals.
• Basic computer skills in Word, Excel and Access.
