*Position Overview* The Process Control Engineer will play a key role in designing, configuring, integrating, and implementing process control solutions for our wood products manufacturing facilities.
This involves engineering electrical systems, PLCs, HMIs, SCADA systems, SQL, Access, and PC networking technologies.
*Responsibilities* Master the current process, control, and reporting systems, striving for continuous improvement in electrical/process control systems.
Propose changes in control schemes to enhance business unit operation.
Integrate newer technologies and extensions of current architectures, coordinating technical design and implementation of project work.
Monitor machinery and systems operation to minimize unplanned downtime, troubleshoot and solve problems promptly, and identify improvement opportunities.
Collaborate with maintenance and operational teams to drive continuous improvements in asset performance.
Strategically think about downtime prevention and long-term issue resolution while fostering a culture of efficiency and swift reaction to downtime events.
Respond to equipment downtime emergencies and develop plans for recurring situations.
Identify opportunities for successful implementation of condition-based monitoring to predict failure.
Provide ongoing training for electrical personnel to ensure the development of sound operating and maintenance practices.
Offer backup support to other process control and electrical supervision personnel, sustaining production through electrical engineering support.
Maintain all documentation related to the process control system configuration and SOPs in collaboration with electrical supervisors.
Participate in business unit planning and budgeting activities, balancing day-to-day needs with long-term projects.
Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, quality, maintenance, and manufacturing standards and programs within the area of responsibility.
Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisor, prioritizing on-site attendance to effectively carry out responsibilities.
*Required Skills And Abilities* Demonstrated commitment to continually improve understanding of computerized equipment programming for timely diagnostics and repairs across all business unit machinery.
Proficiency in full controls integration, spanning from electrical/instrumentation design to PLC to HMI.
Familiarity with common sensors and transmitters and their suitability to specific applications.
Strong computer skills, including proficiency in MS Suite, Project, Access, SQL, CMMS, AutoCAD, and Kronos, and experience with IO Servers.
Capability to troubleshoot and repair machinery using drawings, schematics, and root-cause/failure analysis.
Solid grasp of engineering concepts encompassing electrical, instrumentation, hydraulic, and mechanical systems.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, along with strong interpersonal abilities.
Effective leadership skills to manage and motivate team members.
Outstanding analytical, reasoning, and problem-solving abilities, coupled with innovative thinking to address complex issues.
High personal integrity and adherence to ethical and professional standards.
Strong time-management and organizational skills, with readiness to work weekends, holidays, and respond to callouts if required.
*Education And Experience* Bachelor’s degree in electrical, computer, or mechanical engineering with at least 5 years of post-degree manufacturing or relevant process control experience.
Preferably, experience in forest products, paper and pulp, food or beverage processing, or chemical industries.
Experience with continuous manufacturing processes and working knowledge of Simatic/TI505 PLCs and Wonderware HMI or equivalent.
Experienced in Ethernet network design and implementation, including fiber and 10/100 Base TX, and familiarity with steam systems, natural gas systems, hydraulic systems, and pneumatic systems.
Experience in capital project design, installation, and startup.
*Environmental Conditions* May be exposed to dust, noise, trip hazards, and variable weather and temperatures.
*Required Personal Protective Equipment* Individuals must comply with wearing the required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times, which may vary depending on specific tasks and include high visibility garments, hand protection, eye protection, hearing protection, hard hats, foot protection, face shields, and respirators.
Job Type: Full-time Salary: $100,000.
00 - $110,000.
