GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION: Under general supervision, performs unskilled and semi- skilled work in the general maintenance of buildings, grounds, and equipment.
Employees assigned to this classification perform a variety of tasks.
Employees operate a variety of manual and power tools and equipment to carry out their assignments, operate light automotive equipment in a safe and effective manner.
Employees perform routine and repetitive tasks without close supervision but typically receive specific work instructions at the beginning of any new task or assignment.
Some assignments involve exposure to inclement weather and employees are subject to accident and injury hazards/risks and very disagreeable work environments including dirt, dust, extreme temperatures, odors, grease, etc.
Workers are required to observe safety procedures and practices and/or wear or use specialized protective clothing or equipment while performing work.
Physical ability to adhere to OSHA and district safety regulations.
Work within the district’s communicable disease control plan (blood borne pathogens) and be aware of the existence and potential exposure to hazardous chemicals as identified on the MSDS sheets.
Must possess a CDL - Class B driver’s license.
Responsibilities include student safety and security.
This position is considered a safety sensitive position.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Must have or have the ability to obtain Oregon public school pesticide applicators license (ornamental and turf) with in the first 6 months of employment Bachelors degree in turf management or equivalent experience and at least two years’ experience in landscape and grounds including knowledge of turf and weed control chemicals along with fertilizers and when to apply.
2 years’ experience installing, designing and repairing inground and above ground sprinkler systems including sizing of pumps, line and heads.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES (Not Necessarily Limited To) 1.
Perform all jobs and responsibilities in a safe manner as depicted in school district policies and procedures.
2.
Coordinates and leads workers both full time and seasonal in routine grounds maintenance tasks.
Collaborates with school head custodians on grounds/landscape plans.
3.
Performs mowing and weed eating with commercial mowers and weed trimmers.
4.
Performs seeding, aerating and dethatching as needed to school grounds and athletic fields.
5.
Performs small engine scheduled maintenance and repair of district grounds equipment including blade, belt and parts replacement.
6.
Operates zero-turn mowers, seeders, UTV’s, hand and vehicle mounted spray equipment, tractors, dump truck and other construction and grounds related equipment both small and large.
7.
Inspects trees and plants for pests and disease.
Prunes trees, shrubs and hedges as needed.
Recommends to supervisor larger trees needing to be removed.
8.
Perform basic troubleshooting, repair, installation and winterizing of both above and inground sprinkler systems.
Knowledge of irrigation and irrigation systems that include pumps, filters, underground lines, mainlines, and surface lines.
9.
Perform snow and ice removal during winter months as needed.
10.
Performs routine playground equipment inspection and repair.
Delivers fall protection chips to playgrounds and helps spread under equipment.
11.
Performs general site clean-up duties including loading and unloading trucks/trailers, demolition work, separating and hauling scrap metal, hauling items and debris to dump, assist in delivering and assembling classroom and other school related items.
12.
Regular attendance is an essential function of this position.
Willingness to work some overtime and night work 13.
Additional duties as assigned by Supervisor or designee.
260 Days/Year 8 Hours/Day Hourly pay will depend on qualifications Range: $21.
