Candidates selected for Spreader Operator have an opportunity to increase to $26.
85 plus regular annual increases once trained.
Must be able to work any shift: Days, Swing, Graveyard.
POSITION SUMMARY This position supports the company in meeting its production goals by performing layup and machine feeding job duties to produce hardwood and softwood plywood.
MAJOR TASKS • Performs Spreader functions such as feeding core, laying core and turning sheets, while communicating with other operators.
• Patches core line, removes debris as needed.
• May be responsible for setting the production pace to achieve footage goals.
• Monitors production process to identify quality issues.
Reports issues to Quality Control and Supervisory staff.
• Performs daily pre-inspections of equipment.
Reports any maintenance issues immediately.
• Keeps the immediate work area free of wood debris, maintains an organized and safe work area.
• May use saws to cut veneer to product specifications.
• Provides product tickets with correct date, Press and Spreader Crew number.
• Completes quality and other manufacturing process paperwork.
• Follows plywood and veneer stacking guidelines at all times.
• Reviews product changeovers to ensure correct product is manufactured.
Communicates product and process information to other operators.
• Performs cleanup duties as time allows or as directed by the supervisor.
• Follows all safety rules and lockout requirements for the manufacturing equipment.
• Performs additional duties as assigned by supervisor for production or cross-training purposes.
SKILL REQUIREMENTS • Attention to detail.
• Ability to stand for duration of shift, bend, stoop, twist, and kneel.
• Must be able to lift and move up to 10lbs frequently and able to lift up to 50lbs on occasion.
• Communication skills and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
