POSITION SUMMARY
Under general supervision, performs patient preparation, check in, cares for patients by transporting them to procedures, answering questions and preparing them for imaging procedures.
and assisting the Diagnostic Imaging technologist with patients during the imaging process and other related duties in a timely manner.
Assumes responsibility for designated area or procedures, as required.
Recognizes the purpose of employment is to prioritize the patient as number one, and to put forth the utmost quality in duties performed as Imaging Tech Aide.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required: Basic knowledge of medical terminology (within 6 months) and anatomy to provide assistance to the Diagnostic Imaging technologist.
Ability to work independently without constant supervision; Ability to effectively communicate with patients, physicians, nursing and technical staff and others they may come into contact with, in a pleasant and constructive manner; Ability to prioritize workload to meet needs of in-house and outpatient requesters in a timely manner; Ability to take direction from lead, manager or director regarding work activities and procedures; Ability to transport and work with all age groups; Good knowledge of body mechanics; Successful completion of on-the-job training program or applicable experience and demonstrated competence; and have reliable transportation.
Preferred: Basic knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy to provide assistance to the radiologic technologist.
TYPICAL PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS
Able to move very heavy work loads throughout the hospital (up to 300 lbs).
Assisting with moving patients (up to 500 lbs.
) from the bed to gurney or wheelchair and back.
Have a full range of body motion by being able to bend, twist, lift, push and pull.
Capable of walking or standing up to 10 hours a day.
Be able to handle stressful situations and help diffuse them.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Required to perform administrative tasks.
This can include duties such as data entry, copying, faxing and filing.
Responsible for transporting patients, according to the designated method, and adhering to the scheduled times as nearly as possible, to and from all diagnostic and treatment areas in Sky Lakes Medical Center proper.
Nurse notified prior to transport and upon returning patient to nursing floor.
Responsible for maintenance of cleanliness of portable equipment in the department and surgery.
Cooperates in a positive and professional manner in assisting department personnel as required.
Maintains adequate records, as directed.
Handles equipment in a responsible, professional manner.
Promotes positive work environment by taking personal responsibility for establishing good working relationships with co-workers, other hospital staff and outside contacts.
Effectively communicates with all personnel.
