Forest Officer ($4527.
00 – $6912.
00, Monthly plus benefits).
Four (4) years in wildland fire suppression OR bachelor’s degree in forestry or closely related natural resources field and one (1) year of wildland fire suppression.
One 3-6 month season is equivalent to one year of experience for seasonal positions only.
18 years of age
Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
Will be required to take and pass the physical fitness Work Capacity Test at the arduous level.
Note: Must obtain the Class B Warden certification within the trial service period.
General Duties:
Perform forest fire suppression activities.
Perform pre-suppression readiness activities.
Perform fire prevention and education activities.
Assist with grounds and facility maintenance.
Occasionally perform forest tasks involving slash burning, pre-commercial thinning, road brushing, etc.
Observe, receive, and obtain information from all relevant sources.
Skills we are looking for:
Knowledge of forestry laws, rules, and regulations for the public.
Analyze information and evaluate results to choose the best solution and solve problems.
Set goals, prioritize, organize, and accomplish assigned work.
Demonstrate strong leadership and mentoring skills.
