Compensation This is a Full-time Classified, 40 hour per week (100%) position in the Marketing & Communications department.
Starting compensation is entry level for Group 7 on the 2023-24 Classified Salary Schedule.
Requirements Minimum Qualifications •Education – Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field.
•Experience – A minimum of three years of experience as a communications and marketing professional that includes developing and executing communications plans and progressively responsible experience writing and editing content for various media - including Associated Press (AP) Style writing.
Only degrees received from an accredited institution will be accepted: accreditation must be recognized by the office of degree authorization, US Department of Education, as required by ORS 348.

Any satisfactory equivalent combination of education and experience which ensures the ability to perform the essential functions of the position may substitute for the requirement(s).
Preferred Qualifications •Crisis management and public relations experience is a plus.
•This position is designated as preferring bilingual fluency in Spanish.
Proficiency will be determined by a college-approved certification professional.
Proficiency is defined by the ability to express yourself over a broad range of topics at a normal speed.
You may have a noticeable accent and will make grammatical errors, for example with advanced tenses, but the errors will not cause misunderstanding to a native speaker.
It is the responsibility of the employee to maintain bilingual skills throughout the duration of employment.
A bilingual pay differential may apply to this role upon certification.
Essential Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities (Core Competencies) •Knowledge – Marketing and Communications: Understanding of marketing principles and communications strategies, including Associated Press (AP) Style writing, digital marketing, social media, email marketing, content marketing, and traditional advertising.
Higher Education: Familiarity with the unique needs and challenges of community colleges, as well as the broader higher education landscape.
Target Audience: Knowledge of the college's student demographics, faculty, staff, and community members to tailor messages effectively.
Trends and Technology: Awareness of current trends in marketing and communication technology, including social media platforms, analytics tools, and CRM systems.
Data Analysis: Ability to collect, analyze, and interpret data to measure the effectiveness of marketing campaigns and communication strategies.
Budget Management: Understanding of budgeting and resource allocation to make strategic decisions for marketing and communication efforts.
Regulatory Compliance: Awareness of relevant regulations, such as FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act), and the legal implications of marketing in higher education.
•Skills – Content Creation: Strong writing and editing skills for creating engaging and persuasive content, including press releases, articles, blog posts, and marketing materials.
Graphic Design: Proficiency in graphic design software to create visually appealing and cohesive marketing materials.
SEO and SEM: Knowledge of search engine optimization (SEO) and search engine marketing (SEM) to increase online visibility and drive traffic.
Email Marketing: Skill in crafting effective email campaigns, managing email lists, and measuring email performance.
Public Relations: Experience in media relations, crisis communication, and event promotion.
Project Management: Organizational skills for coordinating and executing marketing and communication campaigns within set timelines.
Interpersonal Skills: Effective communication and collaboration with college partners, colleagues, faculty, staff, and students.
Fluency in both oral and written Spanish is preferred.

Other Requirements •For assignments requiring operation of a motor vehicle, possession of a valid Oregon Driver’s License or the ability to obtain one within 30-days of employment, and maintenance of an acceptable driving record are required.
Remote Work Options (see AP 7239 Working Remotely for more details) •Hybrid – this position functions as a hybrid work arrangement, working on-campus and from home, with either a set schedule or flexibility.

Alternate work location must be within the state of Oregon.
