Organizational Overview: In partnership with employers and SEIU 503, Long-Term CareWorks provides workers in Oregon long-term care facilities with training, apprenticeship, and mentorship to help them thrive in their career.
By collaborating with unions, responsible employers, and government, RISE Partnership supports caregivers and public service employees by developing unique and equitable workforce solutions, including education, benefits navigation, recruitment, and career development.
Position Summary Reporting to the Long-Term CareWorks (LTCW) Senior Program Manager, the LTCW Career Coach will be part of a team of professionals who help deliver and facilitate the mentorship and professional career coaching side of the LTCW Program.
This position will focus on equitable recruitment and retention in the long-term care workforce including the areas of CNA and other identified positions.
The Career Coach will be an currently licensed CNA, LPN or RN with at least two years of on the job long term care work experience and successful experience with pursuing stackable certifications past CNA 1.
This position is responsible for coordinating with the LTCW Program Manager, and other key stakeholders, to work directly with cohort members over the course of their year-long training program, providing professional and educational mentorship, guidance, and support through cohort gatherings, individual one on one mentor sessions, study groups and educational clinical observations.
Essential Functions The primary responsibilities for this position are: To plan and facilitate long term care career coaching and mentorship —in coordination with the Program Manager and other relevant stakeholders— to a yearlong cohort of individuals pursuing their CNA license by following apprenticeship mentorship guidelines; and to provide apprenticeship documentation support to the LTCW Program, a joint Labor-Management Trust serving care providers working in nursing home settings.
Specific tasks may include (but not be limited to): Professionally mentor and provide career coaching for Long Term Care Workforce Apprentice Cohort Members with an equitable and inclusive lens.
Develop regular scheduling and agendas to meet with the group cohort.
Develop regular scheduling and agendas to meet with individual apprentices.
Provide an equitable and inclusive environment for each individual and collaboratively create growth and goal plans together.
Provide clinical support, observation, and documentation on site at a partner Long Term Care facility that will provide, in accordance to agreements with the Trust, an educational and focused clinical environment in which both mentee and mentor are able to perform clinical hours within appropriate and defined parameters.
Provide study support for cohort members.
Assess and document apprentice skills during clinicals to track progress in the program and allow for wage rate increases for participants.
Provide feedback through forms for data collection and improvement of the program.
Developing and maintaining relationships with employer organization site staff during clinicals and beyond.
Assist cohort members in their transitions into work at partner sites.
Attending monthly Long-Term Care Workforce Development Trust board meetings; Working with and protecting sensitive and confidential information; Engaging and soliciting stories from a wide diversity of workers, and comfort level in lifting up the voices of people of color, LGBTQ people, immigrants, among other communities.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Current unencumbered Licensed CNA, LPN or RN with at least two years of on the job experience and successful experience in pursuing certifications past CNA 1 - which can include CNA 2 or other complementary certifications.
Long Term Care Work experience necessary/preferred.
Excellent writing and communications skills.
Ability to apply an informed equity lens and analysis to mentorship of apprentices.
Independently manage multiple participants documentation and coaching.
A demonstrated commitment to advancing the voice and conditions of Oregon workers; Proven track record in successful mentorship, career coaching, and/or cohort leading.
Self-motivated with ability to work well independently and to think on your feet; Be curious, generous, open-minded and enjoy working as part of a team.
A commitment to giving workers the capability and confidence they need to make the most of their union-negotiated benefits A commitment to treating coworkers and participants with respect Ability to use the following office equipment, tools and machines: PC, multi-line telephone, copier/printer/scanner, fax, smart phones, computers with Microsoft, Adobe, and online web based secure applications Experience Currently licensed as a CNA II, LPN or RN with at least two years of on the job experience.
Experience in long-term care facilities preferred.
Career Coaching, mentorship, and/or cohort leading experience.
Experience in recruitment and retention in the workforce preferred.
