QUALIFICATIONS Required: Ability to work well as part of an interdisciplinary team in the treatment and care of sick and/or terminally ill patients and their families; Ability to perform a variety of tasks independently and under the direction of others.
Preferred: CT experience; Experience working with cancer patients.
Lic/Reg/Cert: Current OBMI, AART (R) Certification maintained.
TYPICAL PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS Very heavy; occasionally.
Ability to lift 25 pounds.
Ability to assist treatment patients while on CT and treatment table, or in/out of a wheelchair.
Excellent visual acuity.
Excellent communication skills.
Ability to work well in stressful situations.
Self motivated.
Ability to work independently to accomplish all aspects of job functions.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Assists the radiation therapists with patient set up/treatments on treatment machine.
Escorts patients from the waiting and/ or dressing area to the CT simulator, linear accelerator room prior to each procedure as directed by the Radiation Therapist.
Set-up patients for treatment and placement of appropriate treatment devices (blocks, wedges, bolus, etc.
).
Understands the warm up procedures for the CT simulator and linear accelerator, doing machine warm-up when directed to do so by the radiation staff.
Understands the process and is capable of cutting custom blocks and formulating other treatment accessories as directed by the technical staff.
Performs patient simulation procedures and inputs patient setup information in IMPAC.
