Read on to find out more below: Position: Sustainability Manager Department: Accounting Hours: Monday- Friday 8am-4:30pm PST Location: Based in the Rogue Valley of OR alco covers PDC and Sequim, WA Summary: Consistent with Herb Pharm’s history of delivering the highest quality and sustainability-focused herbal medicines, this position is intrinsic to Herb Pharm’s ongoing mission of “taking care of plants, so they can take care of people.
” The Sustainability Manager is responsible for supporting the development and implementation of company-wide sustainability and environmental strategies, policies, and training.
This position is essential for providing directional development on environmental regulatory compliance and supporting continuous improvement toward sustainability goals.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities: include the following, other duties may be assigned: Manage key sustainability performance metrics and communicate those throughout the company, including Pacific Botanicals and Mushroom Harvest.
Implement environmental compliance policies internally by supporting the creation of and maintaining training and informational tools.
Support continuous improvement toward sustainability targets by managing data for goal setting, building a system for sharing best practices, and supporting the implementation of sustainability projects throughout the company.
Create, interpret, and execute a budget with reporting updates to the CFO regularly.
Develop and author annual sustainability reports.
Prepares documentation required for project funding for various environmental initiatives including proposals and grant applications.
Drafts and prepares reports, presentations, and proposals; presents proposals and recommendations to the CFO, board of directors, and other key stakeholders.
Coordinate and ensure compliance with environmental policies, regulations, and permitting.
Completes all required US Government mandatory surveys.
Engage with key internal and external stakeholders, such as facility personnel, company management, and governmental agencies.
Leadership in creating a regenerative culture; including implementation of training programs and true cost accounting, responsible sourcing, and social equity.
Coordinate and oversee B Corp Certification process.
Coordinate and administer Regenerative Organic Certification process.
Report metrics needed for Regenerative Organic Certification process.
Ensures that Herb Pharm is practicing earth-friendly purchasing policies by tracking the status of rare or protected plant species purchased and monitors the status of wild herbs that are being cultivated.
Qualifications & Requirements: Understand the basic concepts of conservation and sustainable development, including energy conservation, waste management, resource conservation, water conservation, and environmental reporting metrics.
Basic understanding of federal environmental regulatory requirements.
Maintains professional and technical knowledge of current trends, best practices, and developments in the profession/industry.
Ability to communicate with governmental regulatory agencies.
Assists with efficient team operation and continuous process improvement, by participating actively in all team and departmental meetings as requested.
Regularly leads and/or assists with special projects as directed.
Well organized, with the ability to set priorities and meet reasonable deadlines.
Advanced skills in managing large datasets.
Ability to analyze and understand research and to identify relevant and valuable information.
Current valid Driver’s License and current passport.
Ability to travel independently 25-40% depending on business needs and manage travel budgets effectively.
Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in environmental science or related field.
Five+ years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience in the natural foods industry is required.
Demonstrated record of successful implementation of sustainability programs.
Experience utilizing ERP systems, MRP programs, and good practices for supply planning.
Technical Requirements: Proficiency in Office365, exceptional with Excel.
Experience with database management, presentation development and word processing software.
Has the capacity to learn and comprehend new computer programs or tools.
Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, botanical guides, plant identification manuals, or governmental regulations.
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry to practical situations.
Reasoning Skills: Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to define problems, collect research data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Interpersonal Skills: Ability to handle complex telephone communications and/or team-centered work situations; well-developed questioning, listening, and negotiating skills.
Ability to deal professionally with unhappy or unpleasant vendors or customers, resolving most problems and conflicts with a win-win approach.
