SUMMARY Receives and schedules patients for the Dental Section.
Operates multiline telephone system to answer incoming calls and directs callers to appropriate person or section.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.
Other duties may be assigned.
Greets clients and visitors.
Customer service skills to include; listening closely to client, provide clear verbal communication, ability to empathize with client, and understanding of organizational protocol and guidelines.
Answers telephone in a courteous, professional, timely manner; routes calls to appropriate person or section; takes messages and delivers them to appropriate person in a timely manner.
Provides appointment scheduling for all dental providers.
Keeps schedules full with current protocols.
Sorts, routes, and files various documents and paperwork.
Makes copies of correspondence and other printed material.
Maintains professional, organized, clean work station by following organizational policies, guidelines, and safety standards.
Assists in development of policy, procedures, and quality improvement activities within the Dental Services section as directed.
Attends Dental Section staff meetings and other organizational meetings as assigned.
Adheres to accreditation and compliance standards/guidelines.
Welcomes on-site visitors, determines nature of business, and announces visitors to appropriate personnel.
Copies, scans and faxes documents.
Prints and updates daily appointment schedules for all dental providers.
Takes payments for services, writes receipts and routes to appropriate section.
Orders, receives, and maintains office supplies.
Creates and prints fax cover sheets, memos, correspondence, reports, and other documents when necessary.
Performs other clerical duties as needed, such as filing, photocopying, and collating.
Assists clients with financial arrangements and process credit card transactions according to established UIHS fiscal policies and fee schedule.
Confirm client’s appointments, provide follow-up calls and schedule appointments.
Insurance claim review and follow-up.
Other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Educational degrees must be from a US Department of Education accredited school.
Level I: High School Diploma, or GED equivalent, and two (2) years applicable experience preferred as dental receptionist.
Level II: High School Diploma, or GED equivalent, and four (4) years applicable experience preferred as dental receptionist.
COMPUTER OPERATIONS Basic personal computer skills including electronic mail, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics.
Electronic health record (EHR) experience preferred.
