POSITION TITLE: Food & Nutrition Associate I
POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for preparing and serving meals to patients, staff and visitors and all tasks leading up to and after meal service.
Tasks include (but are not limited to): washing dishes, collecting dirty trays, putting stock away, prepping for and cooking of food including for therapeutic diets, cleaning and sterilizing of equipment, talking with patients and inputting meal requests, communicating with other departments, keeping supplies and products stocked and organized, serving retail customers and using POS system, adhering to strict health codes and regulations at all times and following all food sanitation rules.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Setup and breakdown of dish room.
Ensure dishes are clean, sanitized, air dried and put away before each meal service.
Maintain cleanliness: sweep, mop, trash, grease trap as appropriate.
Setup and breakdown of cafeteria.
Prepare and serve all menu items.
Maintain professional customer service.
Keep the cafeteria and dining room clean and stocked at all times.
Sweep, mop, trash as appropriate.
Prep for all future recipes.
Follow recipes and prepare quality, nutritious food as delegated by Chef and under supervision, including food for therapeutic diets.
Understand therapeutic diets and help patients make meal selections within all therapeutic diet orders.
Prepare nourishments and patient trays as needed.
Deliver patient trays while following hospital sanitation protocols.
Support kitchen and café staff by assisting with other tasks as needed.
Follow health and safety standards at all times to assure cross contamination never occurs.
MARGINAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Minimum Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
REQUIRED:
General understanding of food sanitation standards and techniques.
Knowledge in use and maintenance of commercial kitchen equipment.
Ability to follow detailed written and verbal instructions.
Ability to organize and prioritize work, respond to changes in pace productively and efficiently, focus on all areas of each task, independently complete basic checks required to maintain sanitation and productivity guidelines; and function with minimal supervision.
PREFERRED:
Knowledge of therapeutic food production and institutional food production utilizing recipes
TYPICAL PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS:
Medium physical demand level.
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
, push and maneuver carts weighing up to 350 lbs.
Ability to stand for an extended period of up to 3 hours continuously.
Ability to ambulate with hot items in a safe manner.
Ability to perform repetitive tasks for up to 3 hours continuously.
Must be able to tolerate extremes of noise, temperature, and humidity.
Must be able to work with others in congested areas.
Reaching, handling food, touching food, talking, hearing, and seeing is a significant part of the job.
Must be able to meet set timelines and work under pressure.
Must be able to operate equipment needed to complete tasks, (including but not limited to) commercial dish washer, meat slicer, commercial mixer and other appliances.
Able to set and meet timelines and work under pressure.
PAY RATE: $15.
