We started working on the van in 2019 with plans to make it a camper and have had multiple setbacks.
Van drives great.
We went through the cargo area and mitigated all rust, primed, and painted.
It has 2” foam insulation below the painted tongue and groove plywood floors.
There is sound deadening behind the denim insulation we were planning to replace with wool, and a sheet vinyl flooring.
We have some walls up and removed the ceiling plywood because of a leak in a seam before painting.
Had the rear window seals redone and roof seams sealed prior to application of raptor liner.
Van was originally transport for bicycle tours, it had multiple speakers and 12 volt power outlets, we removed these but the wiring is still available if you want to use it.
The Good: Over $14k of new parts and maintenance since 2019.
New Oil Cooler and gasket, fan clutch, tires and brakes, brake lines, suspension upgraded to Koni shocks & struts, sway bar, sumo bump stops, control arm bushings, and new leaf springs.
Drives like an dream! Oil pan gasket replaced, front main seal redone, new power brake switch, oil filler cap, and intake air filter.
AC Control module rebuilt, new fuel injector pump, power steering pressure hose, and power steering return hose.
Serpentine belt and tensioners replaced.
Seat belt webbing replaced and new driver dash vents installed.
Transmission rebuilt in April 2021.
Recently replaced the brake vacuum pump and the two fuel lines close by it.
Van painted with raptor liner and roof seams treated to prevent rust or leaks.
Other small trim pieces have been replaced as well like wing mirrors, and front/passenger/rear door weather seals.
Rear windows were professionally removed and re-sealed as well.
Van has made short and long trips without any issues.
Portland to LA, Portland to Medford.
The bad: Small oil leak at valve cover gasket, quotes $1,000 to repair by Hendy’s.
AC blower isn't working, haven't diagnosed issue.
SRS warning light on.
Painter who did the raptor liner got overspray on front seats.
Van will come with 1 key, Autel MaxiAP200 ODB2 reader, passenger dash vent replacement, turbo rebuild kit, new glow plugs, crankshaft position sensor, rooftop vent fan, mattress pads, steering wheel, additional seats, replacement flooring linoleum roll, box of havelock wool insulation, some additional insulation, and bed frame.
We hope the work we’ve done gets someone that much closer to their ven life dream.
We need to focus on other priorities right now.
