Hello! Please read the (somewhat lengthy) ad before contacting me as it should answer a ton of questions and tell an interesting story.
First, the basics.
2012 outback with the 3.
6 liter H6 engine and 5 speed automatic (one of the last transmissions before the more issue prone CVT) Higher trim package with heater leather, sunroof, cruise, AC, large touchscreen navigation, etc etc.
nearly new AT tires with slightly aggressive tread.
These have about 2500 miles on them since new.
141k miles and climbing slowly.
Clear Oregon title and registration in my name.
Interior is in fantastic condition and the exterior is as well except for a handful of small bumps and bruises it has obtained along the way on some adventures.
Check the photos as I have done my best to show them.
In the last 1k miles it has had the following maintenance done:
New spark plugs
New air filter
Transmission and rear differential fluid
Fan belt idler pulleys replaced
Now the story about the car that I want to share just to be fully transparent.
I purchased the car in September from a lady traveling from the Bay to her son’s wedding in Seattle.
Coming over the pass it started running rough so she took it to southern Oregon Subaru to have it looked at.
I don’t know what exactly happened, but they told her it would need a new engine and tried to offer her a thousand on trade in and sell her a new car.
She drove it back to Ashland where a second mechanic also offered her next to nothing to take the car.
In a bind, she called her sister who came up and they continued the trip.
In the meantime she posted it for sale and I purchased it planning to park it in my shop and do an engine swap.
When I went to pick it up the next day, it ran flawlessly with only a check engine light.
Long story short, it had a #4 misfire that had cleared itself.
I can only theorize that the coil and spark plug lost connectivity for a moment.
I went through the car front to back and took care of a few small maintenance items and then have been driving the car without a single
issue for the last three months.
I was never able to re-create any misfire in over 1000 miles and changed all six spark plugs with factory iridium plugs just to be sure.
This car is a pleasure to drive and has by far the most power of any Subaru I’ve ever driven.
The only downside is it only gets about 21mpg average driving.
But it is comfortable, handles great, and should be ready to provide years of service to its next owner.
